| The cooling system is exactly that - a system. Installing a thick radiator without considering the placement of the fan and shroud serves to diminish the possible cooling improvements. When I worked at Peterbilt Motors Company, we installed a number of different engine/radiator combinations. We were required to use the proper spacer between the fan pulley and the fan to ensure proper insertion into the shroud. :available? I don't think the price diff is much, and is there such a thing as running "too cool"? ...... I too am wondering about this "too far into the shroud" concept. And yes, you can run too cool. If you never get out of the cold start enrichment tables on your ECU due to overcooling, you'll run unnecessarily rich under low load and/or low ambient conditions
